Pickett is honored to announce that our Vice President, Tom Bennett, PE, PMP, will be presenting at this year’s TSDOS conference! Tom will present his white paper titled, “Permitted Permanent Access Roads & Crane Pads as A Cost-Effective Alternative to Matting” on Thursday, September 5th at 10:45am in room Frisco 2.
In his presentation, Tom will elaborate on how Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and other coastal states often face obstacles around building, operating and maintaining transmission lines in wetlands and along rights-of-ways. This is due to the constant standing water, periodic flooding or saturated muck soils these areas experience. The typical solution to these challenges is to employ layers of timber or composite matting to facilitate access to and along the right-of-way, as well as at structure locations where construction and maintenance is to be performed.
Matting on large scale projects can cost upwards of $10-12 million dollars, along with additional fees for that come from damages or losses. Pickett offers another alternative: cost effective, permanent access road solutions. Be sure to stop by Frisco 2 on Thursday morning to learn more about how these services can save time and money on your next project.
