Join Pickett Team Members Curtis DeVault, GISP, and Helen Paris, GISP as they present at this year’s BigSky GeoCon on Remote Disaster Response on Thursday, April 6th in Bozeman, Montana.
Hurricane Ian’s direct hit to Florida in September 2022 forced our Florida team to take shelter while our Montana team took the lead in supporting utility clients’ post-storm. Using GIS based tools for field assessments and reporting, the Montana team was able to create damage assessments once the storm cleared. The Bozeman team will discuss challenges experienced and the lessons learned as field crews began damage assessments in Florida. The experience allowed innovation to flourish and provided an outline for steps to take to simplify the process for future storm response programs.
